Created for Qingdao, the sailing venue of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, this public sculpture explores the relationship between the main Olympic site and its satellite host city.

Drawing from the structural language of Beijing’s National Stadium (the Bird’s Nest), the work adopts interlocking ring forms to suggest continuity, circulation, and connection. The two loops visually bridge distant locations, allowing viewers to intuitively sense the bond between the Olympic center and its maritime counterpart.

Rather than commemorating the event through narrative or inscription, the sculpture operates through form alone. It translates architectural language into a spatial metaphor, framing the Olympics as a connected system—where separate sites are united through shared structure, rhythm, and movement.
