Created in 2009, Sublimation is a large-scale landmark sculpture installed in Changchun, Jilin Province.

The work is organised around a strongly vertical composition. Two stylised deer forms rise from the central structure, while tall supporting elements extend upward toward a large spherical grid at the top.

The sphere is constructed from intersecting metal lines arranged in graduated tones of dark brown, orange, yellow, and white. Its open lattice allows light and sky to pass through the structure, giving the upper section a lighter and more radiant visual presence.

The paired deer create a transitional point between the solid vertical body below and the open sphere above. Through this gradual movement—from weight to openness, and from dark tones to light—the sculpture gives visual form to the idea of sublimation.

Rather than illustrating a specific event, the work uses ascending structure, changing colour, and increasing transparency to express growth, transformation, and upward movement.

The surviving photograph records the sculpture during installation, with scaffolding still surrounding the main structure. It preserves an important stage in the construction of the work before final completion.
