Created in 2008, The Beauty of Harmony is one of four harmony-themed public sculptures installed in Bayuquan, Yingkou, Liaoning Province.
The work is organised around a series of broad, interwoven bands that curve through space and form an open circular structure. Within these flowing lines, two human figures reach upward together toward a dove, a traditional symbol of peace.
The figures refer to different aspects of urban life, including labour, construction, and the pursuit of a better everyday environment. Rather than separating these themes into independent images, the sculpture connects them through a continuous system of curves.
The white-painted stainless-steel surface reflects the surrounding light and reduces the visual weight of the large form. Open spaces between the bands allow trees, buildings, and sky to enter the composition, making the sculpture change as it is viewed from different directions.
Through the relationship between human figures, natural imagery, and continuous movement, the work presents harmony as a condition of connection rather than stillness.
