Created in 2009, Flute of Integrity is installed at the main entrance of Shanhai Square in Bayuquan, Yingkou, facing the sculpture Princess Bayu across the public space.
The work takes the form of an enlarged horizontal flute. A continuous ribbon-like structure winds around the flute, curves downward, and rises into two open, leaf-like forms. A suspended tablet decorated with traditional patterns hangs beneath the composition.
The flute, ribbon, and tablet are combined into a single flowing structure. The long horizontal body establishes a sense of stability, while the surrounding curves introduce movement and visual rhythm. The turquoise-painted surface recalls the colour and visual character of jade.
Inspired by the local legend associated with Princess Bayu, the sculpture connects the flute with ideas of promise, trust, and fidelity. Rather than illustrating the story directly, it transforms its symbolic object into a monumental public form.
Positioned at the entrance to Shanhai Square, the work functions as both a spatial marker and a narrative counterpart to Princess Bayu, linking the experience of arrival with the coastal cultural memory of Bayuquan.
