Created in 2000, Heterogeneous Isomorphism is permanently installed inside Dalian Library.
The sculpture is divided into two contrasting halves. The left side evokes fragmented oracle bones, with an irregular, weathered surface bearing early Chinese characters. The right side is formed from polished metal and geometric lines resembling circuits, electronic components, and data pathways.
A continuous fracture runs through the work, joining the ancient writing surface and the modern technological structure. Although the two halves differ in material, form, and historical origin, they perform a similar function: recording, transmitting, and preserving information.
By placing oracle-bone inscriptions beside the visual language of digital circuitry, the sculpture establishes a structural correspondence between ancient writing systems and contemporary information technology.
Within the library, the work reflects on the changing forms through which human knowledge is stored and communicated.
