This sculpture served as a central public artwork for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. It depicts five young female figures in motion, each dressed in one of the five Olympic colors, collectively carrying the Olympic torch forward.
The figures represent the five continents, visualizing the relay of the Olympic flame as a shared human journey rather than a single heroic act. Their forward-running posture emphasizes continuity, transmission, and collective momentum.
Rather than monumental stillness, the work adopts a dynamic, process-oriented composition, framing the Olympic spirit as movement—passed from body to body, place to place—across cultures and geographies.
