Created in 2008, Source is a white stainless-steel abstract sculpture installed in Qingdao.
The work is organised around a single sweeping curve that rises from the ground, twists upward, and opens into a broad, hollow structure. Fine horizontal lines extend across the upper section, adding a lighter internal rhythm to the main form.
Two elongated, drop-like elements stand at the highest point of the sculpture. Their upward movement echoes the title Source and suggests water gathering, rising, and beginning to flow.
Rather than relying on a complex narrative, the work focuses on the relationship between line, volume, and open space. The continuous white surface gives the sculpture a clean silhouette, while the hollow centre allows the surrounding sky and landscape to enter the composition.
Through its restrained form and flowing structure, Source presents water not as a literal image, but as a sense of movement, clarity, and renewal.
