This public sculpture takes the form of a manhole cover embedded directly into Wangfujing Street.

Fully integrated with the street surface, the work draws from traditional Chinese visual motifs, featuring a raised dragon relief and engraved historical texts related to the site. It functions simultaneously as infrastructure, sculpture, and historical marker.

By occupying the lowest possible position within public space, the work deliberately rejects monumentality. History is encountered not through elevation or spectacle, but through everyday movement—discovered only when one looks down.

The sculpture reframes public art as something walked upon rather than looked up to, carrying memory quietly beneath the flow of the city.
